Detoxification: A Major Requirement For Healing
Detoxification is very critical for anyone who wishes to restore and maintain health. Since ancient times, human beings have known that the accumulation of certain toxins in the body is an important cause of disease, aging and death.
Everyday, we are bombarded with harsh toxins and chemicals from our environment such as the air that we breathe and the water that we drink. Chemicals, pesticides and even hormones are found in the processed foods we eat. We are also exposed daily to chemical contaminants in the places where we live, play and work. These include detergents, paints, off gassing of furniture and synthetic furnishings, skin care, deodorant, hair products and cosmetics.
Although our bodies have inbuilt abilities to eliminate harmful substances, the overwhelming amounts of toxins we are exposed to each day is proving too great for our bodies to deal with properly. These substances have accumulated to such an extent in many of us that chronic illnesses are manifesting physically and mentally.
If our bodies are receiving proper nutrition and our detoxification and excretory organs are functioning at optimal levels, many of these toxic substances will be expelled safely and efficiently through perspiration, urination and bowel elimination.
However, for the majority of us, our natural detoxification process has been greatly undermined by the proliferation of environmental toxins, the over-consumption of processed foods laced with chemical enhancers and preservatives, and the common use of over the counter as well as prescriptive drugs. We often carry in our bodies, sometimes for years, toxins that have been lodged in our tissues. Toxicity within our bodies cause our health to break down and diseases to take over.
Experts call the total amount of toxins stored in the body at a given time our toxic “body burden.” They note that when our total body burden passes a certain point, organs of elimination become sluggish and the body’s defense become compromised. All detox programs work to clear out this gunk and replenish these organs. While a pressing health condition may call for a targeted cleanse which should be carried out at detox clinics under supervision, common ills and discomfort can be easily alleviated, and excellent health achieved and maintained through gentle day-to-day detoxification.
7 daily detoxification habits for greater vitality and wellbeing
1) Drink 2 to 3 liters of Kangen water.
One of the easiest things you can do to support the healthy elimination of toxins is to drink plenty of Kangen water. “Our kidneys are fantastic waste removers,” says natural food chef, Alexandra Jamieson. “They get rid of the waste products from protein metabolism — uric acid, urea and lactic acid — but they need lots of water to accomplish this.” The super hydrating properties of Kangen water will help to flush out toxins more effectively.
Dr Hiroma Shinya, pioneer of colonoscopic surgery and author of “The Enzyme Factor”, puts all his patients on a highly alkaline diet with a minimum of one gallon of Kangen water per day. The detoxification effect of Kangen water is stunning as evidenced in this video presentation:
2) Eat organic fruits and vegetables.
Organic fruits and vegetables provides adequate fiber and phytonutrients to support the body’s detoxification processes. Fruit juices speed up metabolism to release waste quickly and have an alkalising effect on the blood. Leafy green vegetables have chlorophyll, a detoxifying agent that helps clear the skin, cleanse the kidneys, and cleanse and build the blood.
3) Skin brushing.
Our bodies lose a significant amount of toxins through the skin, and skin brushing can help amplify this process. The only equipment you need is a skin brush, a long brush with coarse bristles and a long handle.
Dr. Bernard Jensen (author of Dr. Jensen’s Guide To Better Bowel Care) recommends in his book, “your daily regime should begin with skin brushing for a period of three to five minutes. I believe skin brushing is one of the finest of all ‘baths’.” Skin brushing helps remove toxins from the surface of the skin as well as improve blood and lymph circulation. Always brush from outward extremities toward the heart. This will help move the lymph fluid in the right direction and supports vascular valve function.
Friendly bacteria in your gut and colon neutralize and remove toxins from the body, so you want to give them plenty of support. Live-culture yogurt, kefir, kombucha tea, fermented vegetables such as kimchi and sauerkraut and probiotic supplements are all easy ways to keep your fighting flora thriving and happy.
The S-Natural Hi-FiberDetox is a unique probiotic dietary fiber detox drink that helps to restore a balanced and healthy microflora ecosystem in the colon. I recommend this drink to many of my clients to help alleviate constipation, support digestion, boost immune system and enhance overall health.
Regular exercise is one of the most important detoxification methods. It facilitates the expulsion of toxins through our largest organ of elimination, the skin, when we perspire. Exercise also stimulates lymph flow which is critical to our body’s ability to cleanse itself. Almost any kind of exercise enhances metabolism and circulation. It increases the transportation of oxygen and nutrients to our cells, while carrying away toxins and wastes from tissues to the organs of elimination.
6) Coffee Enema.
The coffee enema is an integral part of the Gerson Therapy, a detoxifying and nutritional programme designed to stimulate the immune system. Cancer experts at the Gerson Institute have regarded this as an important mechanism for carcinogen detoxification. Essentially, coffee enemas help the body to dump harmful toxins, and fast.
A study conducted by the National Research Council (NRC) in 1982 discovered that coffee enemas have the ability to reduce systemic toxicity by up to 700 percent. This is because caffeine and other beneficial compounds found in coffee stimulate the liver directly to increase production of a powerful detoxifying enzyme that binds with toxins in the body, which are then easily flushed out of the rectum.
Coffee enemas can be carried out safely in the home and are excellent for preventive medicine as well as for treatment.
7) Breathe Deep.
Deep breathing of nature’s fresh air not only oxygenate our body, making it inhospitable to disease pathogens and rogue cells such as cancer, it releases a significant load of toxins through exhalation. Most of us are also habitual shallow breathers. This prevents the usual release of toxins through the breath. Simple deep abdominal breathing several minutes a day can lift flagging spirits, elevate moods and improve the body’s natural detoxification process. You will be surprised by the immediate sense of wellbeing.
Gentle day to day detoxification supports the body’s own intelligence and healing systems and should be part of a healthy lifestyle. If you would incorporate these simple detoxification habits into your daily care regime, you’ll be on the right track to a healthier, happier body.
